FUNDING:

Donations to the Casa de Misericordia are utilized for payment of utility bills, the purchase of gas and diesel for the vehicles, LP gas, food, school supplies, and medical care, as well as for the salaries of the caregivers.

  • We make every effort to be good stewards of God’s gifts. For example, when it is stocked we are able on a monthly basis to spend $150.00 to purchase $1000.00 worth of nonperishable food and personal care items from the Banco Comida – Food Bank in Acuña, Mexico.
  • Templo San Pablo Iglesia Metodista in Piedras Negras, Mexico provides $350.00 per week for perishables and Sunday lunch.
  • Most of the children’s shoes and clothing are donated, as well as some of the school supplies. Linens and household items, too, are received through contributions.
  • An orthodontist in Piedras Negras provides braces, gratis, for two children at a time. There are necessary expenses, however, like special shoes for a child with bowed legs, dental, eye and medical services, which are not donated.
  • McKendree United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Alamo Heights UMC of San Antonio, Texas, Suwanee First UMC, Suwanee, Georgia and Northpointe Church in Adairsville, Georgia provide $3600.00 in pledged monthly support.
  • University United Methodist Church in San Antonio has pledged $2000.00 annually. Templo San Pablo Iglesia Metodista of Piedras Negras, Mexico provides the salaries for (1) cook, (1) caretaker and (1) maintenance person.

All other funding is received as unpledged gifts and/or donations.

The Casa de Misericordia "House of Mercy" is governed by a Mexican Asociación Civil known as Hands and Feet A. C. There are ten board members, all Mexican citizens and all members of Templo San Pablo Iglesia Metodista in Piedras Negras, Mexico. The A. C. Board has designated David and Karen Smith as Directors of the home. The Smiths are responsible for the day-to-day operations and report directly to the A. C. A financial report is presented to the A. C. on a monthly basis and is open for full review upon request. Hands and Feet Ministries, Inc., which has received 501(C) (3) status from the IRS, receives donations from the United States for the Casa de Misericordia.

God has given us this ministry to touch others through the hands and feet of Jesus. "It's not about the concrete, it's about building His Kingdom." There are many people who desperately need help and many who desperately want to help. Hands and Feet Ministry, Inc. is a bridge God is using to connect both groups.
